Center for Economic Design

Welcome to the Center for Economic Design (CED) at Boğaziçi University

The Center for Economic Design is a research unit dedicated to theoretical, applied and experimental studies in microeconomics. In this age of economic design, we draw upon the accumulated knowledge and traditions in normative and positive economics, as well as strategic analysis from game theory. These are applied with creative new ideas towards crafting institutional structures and mechanisms that work for the social good.

Some of the key areas we work on include:

  • Developing matching, allocation and regulatory mechanisms
  • Crafting tax schemes and incentive structures
  • Analyzing contract forms and choice aggregation procedures
  • Studying markets, auctions, and organizational structures

Our objective is to carry out research and studies in social choice, market design, public economics and other related fields. We collaborate closely with domestic and international education and research institutions working in similar domains. We disseminate knowledge through publications, seminars, conferences and other events. We also participate in scholarly initiatives in the field of economic design globally. The Center brings together bright minds to harness ideas and methods from economics and related fields.
